Sunshine Girl

“Ioanna Eyes” by Madison DeCory

Sunshine Girl

Ellie Brewster

A place between pain and peace is where
I’ll be
Waiting for the sun to spit in my mouth

Doubt the way I move my hips    I only think of myself
In the mirror

In the shower

My own voyeur

I’ll be
Cringing when I finally come of age

The shame of seeing myself grow old and lose
That spark that always kept us shining

My sunshine girl

                  Where’d you go?
